"Flight 4 Down!" camporee - Oct. 20-22

Posted on Oct 9 2017 - 5:19pm

We will be participating in Capitol District's "Flight 4 Down!" camporee at Camp T. Brady Saunders.  The camporee's challenge activities are all based on backpacking and wilderness survival skills and knowledge, and there will be an opportunity for interested scouts to work toward earning the Wilderness Survival MB.  Scouts who already have the badge will have plenty of fun, too, refreshing their skills and showing off their knowledge.

Sept. 30, Tire-less James: conservation service project

Posted on Oct 9 2017 - 4:23pm

Update - The James River Association's "Tire-less James" project was a big success!  Several teams participated in the river clean-up from Warren's Ferry to Scottsville.  The weather was great, the water was warm, and Troop 720 removed about 30 tires to add to the pile.  -

Punkin Chunkin - (October 21 - 23)

Posted on Oct 2 2016 - 9:13pm

We are going to Camp Finley Albright in Chesterfield including two nights of camping and launching our trebuchet at the event!  There will be 5 classes in the main field (Catapults, Trebuchets, Human-Power, Theatrical Class, and Pioneering Class).  The Chunkin’ will be a Council STEM event (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).  We need to bring ammo with us: gallon water jugs, and some more for practice and free-throws.  Jugs must be intact and may be decorated with markers and paints.  Please donate your clean gallon jugs!

Bike, Boat, and Bass (August 19-21)

Posted on Jul 24 2016 - 8:11pm

Our August campout is a two-night stay at Brady Saunders, in the summer camp site nearest to the waterfront.  We will have most of the camp to ourselves!  There are almost 10 miles of mountain bike trails within TBS to explore.  Bring your kayak or canoe to paddle on Lake Dillon.  DGIF says there are way too many bass in the lake, and it would be good if a whole bunch of those "predators" are removed.  We need to use canoes and kayaks to reach some of the fishing hot-spots and get to those bass!

Merit Badge Weekend (April 8–10)

Posted on Mar 6 2016 - 2:51pm

Over 600 Boy Scouts, Webelos and leaders will participate in this great tradition.  Each Boy Scout will have the opportunity to work on one merit badge, and for our newest scouts there will be a Scout Skills course taught by the Order of the Arrow. On Saturday night, there will be a campfire with skits, cheers and songs, and an OA Call-Out ceremony.
